Purpose

Nurture Sense sessions are designed to offer a calm, welcoming, and inclusive space where parents, carers, and babies feel safe, respected, and supported. This Code of Conduct and Session Expectations helps ensure a positive experience for everyone.

Our Commitment

At Nurture Sense, we are committed to:

  • respectful, kind, and non-judgemental interactions
  • inclusive practice that values all families
  • safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of babies and adults
  • maintaining clear professional boundaries

Expectations of Parents and Carers

We kindly ask that all parents and carers:

  • treat others with respect, kindness, and consideration
  • use inclusive and non-judgemental language
  • respect confidentiality and the privacy of other families
  • follow guidance provided by the session leader
  • raise concerns privately with the session leader rather than during sessions

Supervision & Safety

  • Parents and carers remain responsible for supervising their own baby at all times.
  • Babies must remain with their parent/carer during activities.
  • Sensory resources are provided for exploration but must be used safely and appropriately.
  • Mobile phone use should be kept to a minimum to support engagement and supervision.

Session Environment

  • Sessions are designed to be calm and welcoming; we ask that noise levels and behaviour support this.
  • Please do not bring hot food or hot drinks in to the session.
  • Any accidents, incidents, or concerns should be reported to the session leader promptly.
  • Please alert the session leader to any spills or hygiene incidents as soon as possible so that they can be cleaned appropriately

Privacy and Media

  • Nurture Sense values the privacy and dignity of all families attending our sessions.
  • No photographs or videos will ever be taken of children during classes by the instructor.
  • No images of children’s faces or identifiable features will ever be used for advertising, social media, or promotional materials.
  • We ask that parents do not take photos of any other children or adults during classes. Please ensure that other children or parents are not visible in the background of any photos you take.

Breaches of Conduct

If expectations are not followed, the session leader may:

  • offer gentle guidance or reminders
  • ask for a private conversation to resolve concerns
  • withdraw a place if behaviour compromises safety, wellbeing, or the ethos of Nurture Sense

Session Leader Conduct

The Nurture Sense session leader is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment. The session leader will:

  • treat all families with kindness, respect, and professionalism
  • create an inclusive and welcoming space for all parents, carers, and babies
  • respect confidentiality and privacy at all times
  • follow safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection policies
  • provide guidance on sensory play and early development within the scope of the sessions

The session leader will not:

  • provide medical, diagnostic, or therapeutic advice
  • replace or contradict guidance from qualified healthcare professionals
  • make judgements about parenting choices
  • share personal information about families

Parents and carers are always encouraged to seek advice from appropriate medical or health professionals where needed.

Practical Support and Signposting

During Nurture Sense sessions, if a parent or carer raises a concern about their baby’s health, development, feeding, sleep, or wellbeing, the session leader will:

  • listen respectfully and without judgement
  • acknowledge the concern and the parent’s expertise in knowing their own child
  • offer general, non-medical information related to sensory play or early development where appropriate
  • avoid offering diagnoses, medical opinions, or treatment advice

Where a concern falls outside the scope of the session, the session leader may gently encourage parents and carers to seek further support from appropriate professionals, such as:

  • their GP
  • their Health Visitor
  • NHS 111 for urgent advice
  • emergency services where there is immediate concern

For families living across the England–Wales border, this may include local health visiting or family support services in either Shropshire (England) or Powys (Wales), depending on where the family is registered.
